how to write hashtags

For the majority of hashtags, use Pascal case. This convention capitalizes the first letter of every word.

Examples:

  • #NotToday
  • #DisabilityAwarenessMonth
  • #AllNewsIsLocal

This helps screen readers discern between words, as well as helps those with dyslexia or with visual or neurological disabilities that may affect reading discern where one word ends and another begins.

If the hashtag is for a product that is itself in camel case, in which the first letter is lowercase followed by an uppercase letter, follow that convention in the hashtag by using camel case.

Examples:

  • #eBooks
  • #iPhone
  • #eBay
